My story

JG Rawk is the stage name of Jeramie Greaves, an American-Canadian musician from Ottawa, Ontario. He pours his heart into writing 80s and 90s indie and alternative rock, weaving faith-based themes and raw grit into every song.

At just 18 years old, in Le Mars, Iowa, USA, Jeramie picked up a guitar, wrote a song from the depths of his soul, and performed it one summer weekend at a friend’s house. His friends were stunned, unaware that he had written it himself. It wasn’t his guitar skills that mattered—it was the power of the song itself. That song was born from deep feelings of anxiety and low self-esteem, with his Christian faith serving as his only anchor amid the chaos. Alternative rock felt like the perfect outlet for those raw emotions, resonating with what he was going through. His friends formed a cover band, with Jeramie as the lead singer, covering bands like Nirvana, Metallica, and Green Day. Music was his refuge, his voice.

The band eventually disbanded during college, but Jeramie’s passion for music never faded. When they reformed with a new singer, the style was there, but the lyrics no longer reflected his faith. This disconnect led him to new avenues—invited into church worship bands, where he learned to lead and inspire a congregation, to lift others through song.

After years away from the stage and missing the feedback, distortion, and raw energy of rock, Jeramie knew it was time to create again. Between 2000 and 2004, he poured his passion into recording four self-produced albums. Those tracks are now shared in “The Early Years” and “The Early Years B-Sides.” His song “Colorful Being,” written in 2000, found a special place on a Spotify playlist in the Philippines, becoming the most played song to date—proof that his music truly connects.

Since 2020, WildBill Studios and a poetry professor have helped capture and elevate Jeramie’s musical vision, infusing it with newfound depth and passion. Many fans say Jeramie’s voice echoes that of Michael Sweet from Stryper—powerful, authentic, and heartfelt. You can discover more of JG Rawk’s music on BandCamp.

“You don’t have to be perfect at an instrument to write a song that touches hearts. It just has to connect. My music has always been about Christian salvation.” That story might be messy, but it’s real—and it’s powerful.
